Weddings & Legal Marriages
There are two parts to the process of joining two people together in marriage - the formal declarations necessary to ensure your union is recognised in law and the ceremonial part that enables you to personalise your wedding to create a meaningful and unique start to your wedding celebrations.
Although at the present time a legal marriage in Guernsey can only be completed at the Greffe the States have now approved changes to the Marriage Law that will enable celebrants to be licenced to perform the legal formalities at any location within the Bailiwick.
We will be monitoring the progress of the implementation of the new law however this may take many months and we do not expect that this will be available for weddings in 2019. We are hopeful that we will be able to complete the legal marriage formalities in 2020.
If your dream is for a traditional style wedding ceremony, an intimate gathering in your home or an informal get together on the cliffs or beach everything can be adapted to reflect your style. This is a time to bring both your families together with your friends and you know what will feel right for you. From the opening music to the closing words everything will be tailored to your personalities and values.
We currently offer two different options for a wedding ceremony - bespoke and standard - and details of these can be found by clicking the CEREMONY link below.
There are many lovely venues on the island so take a look at the VENUES page for inspiration.
Occasionally we are able to undertake ceremonies in Jersey and further afield in the UK, France or other parts of Europe. Please contact us to discuss your planned location and ideas.
You can go to the FAQ's page where there is more general information on the ceremonies. If you would like to chat through the options and discuss your ideas then please email email@example.com and we will make an appointment to meet with you. There is no charge for this consultation and no obligation - afterwards you can decide at any time if you wish to go ahead with the ceremony.
