If you would prefer to stay in Guernsey for just a few days then it may be simpler for you to complete your legal marriage in a Registrars Office near to your home before travelling to the islands for the wedding celebration. Many couples choosing to have a Humanist celebration do prefer to complete the legal formalities a few days beforehand. This means they can design the Humanist ceremony,which they see as the real marriage of their hearts and minds, in whatever way they choose without the need to adhere to the strict requirements of the legal ceremony.

Of course if you are simply renewing your vows or holding a commitment or affirmation ceremony then there is no need for a legal part of the ceremony.
